Substitute Teacher at School District of the Chathams

Courtney Kapp has a range of work experience in various educational and childcare roles. Starting in 2016, they worked as an Assistant Lacrosse Coach for Harding Township Recreation Association until June 2019. In 2017, they became a Sailing Instructor at Seaside Park Yacht Club. From February to April 2019, they worked as an Assistant Preschool Teacher at F.M. Kirby Children's Center. In 2020, they switched gears and became a Counter Waitress at FINS Tropicali Cuisine until August 2021. Courtney then began working as a Substitute Teacher at Harding Township School District in December 2021 and at School District of the Chathams in November 2022. In 2022, they also had roles as a Practicum Student at Chesterfield County Public Schools from February to May, and as a Stay and Play Assistant at Southside Virginia Family Ymca from February to May. In 2023, they will take on the role of a Student Teacher at Nottoway Co Pblc Schs School District from January to May.

Courtney Kapp completed their high school education at Madison High School from 2015 to 2019, earning a High School Diploma. Courtney then pursued their Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and Teaching at Longwood University from 2019 to 2023. Following their undergraduate studies, Courtney furthered their education at Longwood University and obtained a Master of Education (MEd) degree in Reading, Literacy, and Learning from 2023 to 2024.

In addition to their formal education, Courtney has also obtained several certifications. In June 2016, they became a Lacrosse Coach certified by USA Women's Lacrosse. Courtney furthered their instructor certifications in sailing, becoming a Small Boat Level 1 Sailing Instructor certified by US Sailing in May 2017 and a Small Boat Level 2 Sailing Instructor in June 2021. Finally, in June 2022, Courtney obtained CPR/AED/First Aid certification from the American Red Cross.
