Alex Fryer

Alex Fryer is an experienced editorial and opinion writer at The Seattle Times since August 2021. Previously, Fryer served as Communications Director for King County, overseeing communications for Executive Dow Constantine from August 2016 to August 2021. A Vice President of Public Affairs at The Fearey Group from July 2013 to July 2016, responsibilities included media relations and public affairs consulting. Fryer also directed public affairs at Alex Fryer Consulting from January 2010 to July 2013. Earlier roles include Press Secretary and Senior Policy Advisor for Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels, handling communications for 27 city departments, and a staff reporter for The Seattle Times and The Puget Sound Business Journal. Educational background consists of a Master’s in Journalism from Columbia University and a Bachelor’s in International Relations from the University of Washington.
