Faculty Instructor at The Second City

Dan Telfer has a diverse work experience in various industries. Dan started their career in 2014 as a Cast Member - Dungeon Master for the podcast Nerd Poker. In 2009, they worked as a Faculty Instructor at The Second City, where they designed and taught a stand-up comedy curriculum. From 2022 to 2023, Dan served as the Narrative Lead at Dire Wolf Digital, where they worked on tabletop roleplaying adventures.

From 2019 to 2022, they held multiple roles at Fandom, including Narrative Lead for Fandom Tabletop and Cortex RPGs, where they wrote and edited tabletop roleplaying adventures. Dan also worked as a Dungeon Humorist for D&D Beyond, writing humorous and usable content. In 2021, Dan worked as a Twitter Manager for Netflix Is a Joke, managing the @NetflixIsAJoke channel.

In 2019, they worked as a Writer/Panelist for the Saturn Awards, pitching jokes and sketch ideas. From 2017 to 2019, they served as the Senior Editor of MAD Magazine at DC Comics, curating written content and contributing as a writer. Dan also created and hosted MAD's Twitch Channel and wrote for the "MAD About Swamp Thing" web series.

Dan also has experience in social media production. In 2017, they worked as a Social Media Producer for Talking Dead on AMC Networks. Before that, they held a similar position at Comedy Central for @midnight, where they contributed to Emmy-winning interactive content, appeared as a comedian panelist, and managed social media accounts. Dan also worked as a Staff Writer for The High Court with Doug Benson, writing jokes and running social media.

Lastly, in 2014, Dan worked as an Instructor at Nerdist Industries.

Dan Telfer obtained their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Liberal Arts from Columbia College Chicago, where they studied from 1996 to 2001. Additionally, they are currently pursuing voice over acting training at Real Voice LA, starting in 2022.
