Laurel Legler has an extensive work experience spanning several industries and roles. Laurel currently holds the position of Vice President, People at The Second City. Prior to this, they served as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors at Community Counseling Centers of Chicago (C4). In 2020, Laurel took on the role of Interim HR Executive at C4, where they facilitated the organization's turnaround and reinforced its commitment to its mission.
Before joining C4, Laurel was the VP of People at MoLo Solutions from 2019 to 2020. From 2013 to 2019, they worked as the SVP of Human Resources at Guaranteed Rate and Guaranteed Rate Affinity. Laurel also held the position of Manager of Human Resources at Whitehouse Post (2011-2013) and Merchandise Mart Properties, Inc. (2008-2011).
Laurel's earlier experiences include working at A. LaVelle Consulting, LLC as a Human Resources/Staff Producer/Assistant to Avis LaVelle. This position involved various responsibilities such as public and media relations, crisis management, image consulting, and community relations. Laurel was also an Office Personnel Coordinator for the Kerry-Edwards 2004 Presidential Campaign.
Laurel's career began in 1995 as a Documentary Film Producer and Business Manager at Future/Now Films, Inc., where they worked until 2004. Overall, Laurel has a strong background in human resources, organizational leadership, and consultancy.
Laurel Legler has pursued French Language Studies at Alliance Francaise Chicago and Japanese Language Studies at City Colleges of Chicago-Harold Washington College. Laurel has also studied Entertainment Law and Finance at Northwestern University. In addition to their education, Laurel has obtained certifications as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) from the HR Certification Institute® (HRCI®) in 2009 and as an SHRM-SCP from the Society for Human Resource Management.
