Certified Texas Long-Term Care Ombudsman Volunteer at The Senior Source

Charlie Hogge has been working in the engineering field since 1961. CHARLIE began their career at RCA as a Project Engineer, where they made major contributions in the development and manufacturing of the first commercial All-Solid-State Heterodyne 6Ghz Microwave Radio, for which they received one patent. CHARLIE then moved to ITT Telecommunications in 1968 as an Engineering Department Manager of Microwave Telecom Hardware, where they were responsible for developing new products and integrating products brought from California with those developed in Raleigh. CHARLIE obtained a major contract for an all-solid-state microwave system to span the Transco pipeline between Newark, N.J. In 1970, they moved to Sanders Associates as an Engineering Department Manager of Telecom Hardware, where they directed the development of microwave hardware for the U.S. Navy and obtained a new contract with them. In 1971, they moved to Raytheon Data Systems as a Project Engineer and engineered an advanced 1800 channel FDMFM system that MCI favored for its second long haul system. In 1974, they moved to Rockwell International as a Project Engineer in the development of hardware for microwave radio and lightwave telecommunication systems. CHARLIE was named 1987 Engineer of the Year and obtained nine patents and published numerous technical articles in IEEE journals. CHARLIE gained international recognition for the invention of a widely used clock recovery circuit known in the literature as the "Hogge Detector." In 1991, they moved to Alcatel USA as a Project Engineer, where they worked on Lightwave Telecom hardware development following the purchase of the division from Rockwell International and obtained one patent. In 1998, they moved to Alcatel USA as a Principal Engineer. In 2007, they became self-employed as a Mediator/Ombudsman at Creative Dispute Mediation, where they mediated 15 Pro Bono Civil Disputes. In 2009, they began working part-time as a Certified Texas Long-Term Care Ombudsman Volunteer under the direction of The Senior Source and the Texas Department of Aging and Disability, where they provide caring advocacy for approximately 100 residents and attends monthly In-Service training at The Senior Source.

Charlie Hogge received their Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Virginia Military Institute in 1952. CHARLIE later attended Southern Methodist University from 2003 to 2004, where they earned a Graduate Level Certificate in Dispute Resolution.
