Joe Wang

Joe Wang has extensive work experience in various roles, with a focus on financial operations and risk management. Joe started their career at Patersons Securities, where they worked as a Sales Trader. Joe then joined GMP Securities, where they played a key role in setting up the Sydney office and building relationships with fund managers and executives of ASX-listed companies. After that, Joe worked at Commonwealth Bank as an Associate Director and later as a Lead Associate, leading teams responsible for servicing transaction banking products and implementing strong risk management practices.

Joe then moved to CommSec, where they held multiple roles, including Executive Manager of Originations and Maintenance and Executive Manager of Operations East Coast. In these roles, they led teams responsible for operational functions supporting trading, cash, and margin lending products, as well as financial crime compliance activities.

In 2021, Joe worked as a Strategy and Operations Consultant, assisting a US wine and liquor marketplace in achieving rapid growth and operational improvements. Currently, Joe holds the position of Head of Financial Crime Risk Operations and Information Management at The Star Entertainment Group.

Throughout their career, Joe has demonstrated a strong focus on customer centricity, data-driven decision-making, and building high-performing cultures.

Joe Wang received a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Strategy & Leadership from the Macquarie Graduate School of Management (MGSM) in 2015. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) in Corporate Finance and Investment Finance from The University of Western Australia between 2003 and 2007. Joe completed their high school education at John XXIII College. Additionally, they have certifications in Lean Six Sigma - Green Belt from S A Partners, obtained in 2017, and RG146 from ASIC.
