Sonal Shah has had a diverse and impactful career. Sonal has served as the CEO of The Texas Tribune and as the Interim Executive Vice President for Network Advancement and Operations at United Way. Sonal also founded and led The Asian American Foundation, the largest philanthropy focused on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. In addition, Sonal held various roles at Georgetown University, including Professor and Chair of Tech & Society, and Founding Executive Director of the Beeck Center for Social Impact & Innovation. Sonal has also worked as the Chief Policy Advisor at eMed Digital Healthcare, the National Policy Director for Pete for America, and Senior Fellow at the Center for American Progress. Throughout their career, Sonal Shah has championed impact investing and served on the board of The Case Foundation. Sonal also co-founded Indicorps, a non-profit organization that provides service fellowships in India.

Sonal Shah obtained their Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Chicago, a renowned institution, in 1990. During their undergraduate studies, they also spent a year attending The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) as an exchange student, focusing on Economics. After completing their undergraduate studies, Sonal pursued further education and obtained a Master's degree in Economics from Duke University, where they studied from 1992 to 1994.
