Duy Nguyen

Duy Nguyen, Ph.D., serves as the Data Science Director and Product Owner for Fraud at Travelers, leading a team of over 16 employees in developing advanced fraud detection models across various product lines utilizing machine learning techniques. The Organized Fraud Detector project under Duy's leadership received the Gartner Eye on Innovation Award for Financial Services in 2022. Prior roles include Data Science Manager and Associate within the Claim Business Intelligence & Analytics department at Travelers, where Duy focused on building sophisticated fraud detection systems and enhancing recruitment efforts. Duy has also contributed to the field of data science as a contractor for American Family Insurance and as an NIH Predoctoral Fellow, developing statistical methods for genomic data analysis. Duy holds a Ph.D. in Bioinformatics/Statistics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, alongside a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Texas Christian University, and has a strong musical background with degrees in Piano Performance.
