Summary Description

Manage and direct the EnerG Test (EGT) business divisions within The Tri-M group.  This leadership role is responsible for team safety, business development/ sales, customer satisfaction, project execution, quality assurance, people development, P&L/ forecasting, and driving the long-term vision of the divisions.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential:

  • Complies with and ensures compliance with all Tri-M safety policies and procedures.

  • Complies with and ensures compliance with all Tri-M employment policies and procedures including standards of conduct and appearance to reflect positively on the Company.

  • Creates and maintains cohesion between the EGT and other business teams, through teambuilding events, communication both verbally and written, and through project support.

  • Maintains existing customer relationships and develop and expand new relationships. Leverage and provide direction to the sales team.

  • Creates and maintains budgeted revenue and gross margin goals to include monthly forecasting, projections, and gross margin analysis.

  • Works directly with the Vice President: Operations to develop annual financial targets.

  • Establishes, analyzes and refines project management and field installation standards and policies to develop efficient and effective system approaches.

  • Manages and partners with direct reports to ensure the field teams are staffed, scheduled, have material, and are prepared to execute the assigned project.

  • Establishes schedules, priorities, and provides day-to-day direction of team members with the intent of ensuring that all deadlines for all projects are met.

  • Manages assigned personnel in order, to achieve company objectives and maximize career development for employees and conducts timely and accurate performance evaluations.

  • Drives business change through continuous improvement through new tools, systems and methods.

  • Partners with the team to define and expand the field QA process.

  • Defines and implements an ongoing training and career development program for all team members.

  • Evaluates, plans, and coordinates vehicles, tools, equipment upgrades, replacements, and new purchases.

  • Develops and implements documented processes.

  • Assures that all permits, licenses, and inspections filings are completed.

  • Develops scope of work, bill of material and labor hours for estimates.

  • Prepares project status reports and/or schedules, if applicable.

  • Prices and submits to owner and expedites all change order requests.

  • Responds in timely manner to employee concerns.

  • Assists in general business development activities.

Job Requirements

Skills/Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering preferably with additional business courses.

  • Minimum 5-8 years in the electrical power equipment testing industry (switchgear, transformers, circuit breakers, protective relays, etc.) or utility overhead/ underground experience (substations, line work, reconductoring, etc.).

  • Demonstrated ability to lead others in a manner that maximizes their performance.

  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and work within budgets.

  • Proficient computer skills and experience with MS Office.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with accounting systems.

  • Ability to handle and independently prioritize multiple tasks while meeting project deadlines.

  • Ability to work as a team, in a fast-paced environment, and maintain a positive attitude.

  • Ability to adjust to rapidly changing priorities and work under pressure.

  • Excellent verbal, written and human relations skills.

  • Ability to handle difficult situations in a professional manner.

  • Knowledge of electrical power system testing and maintenance, experience desired.

  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings, specifications and electrical schematics.

  • Proven knowledge and ability to estimate electrical field service/ testing projects

  • Thorough knowledge of electrical trade and applicable electrical codes.

Physical Requirements:

  • Working a minimum of 40+ hours/week shifts.
  • Sitting 6 to 8 hours/day.
  • Lifting weights of 0 to 50 lbs.; frequently 0 to 35 lbs. and infrequently above 35 lbs.; sizes and shapes of objects vary from conduit to large panel covers.
  • Ability to lift from floor to above shoulder.
  • Repetitive use of hands includes keyboarding, occasional grasping of hand tools and fine motor coordination for electrical installations.
  • Vision adequate for daily and consistent computer use and reading.
  • Balance adequate for occasional climbing of ladders, scaffolds, and lifts.
  • Environmental factors include working in: temperature extremes of 0F to 100F; up to 8 hours inside or outside; atmospheric exposure to dust, gases, fumes, odors; and poor ventilation in confined spaces.
  • Special hazards include exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and explosive hazards.
  • Personal protective equipment includes use of hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, gloves and hearing protection.
