Jim McDonough

Development Manager at The True Life Companies

Jim McDonough began his career in construction thirty five years ago starting in the trades as a union carpenter. From here, Jim moved through the construction field, becoming a keen manager and inspiring leader. Throughout his career, Jim has been directly involved with all aspects of residential development including acquisition, entitlement, land development, vertical construction, sales and marketing. Fully versed in all aspects of residential development, he has been responsible for the construction of over 10,000 homes in his career. Jim currently manages land development operations for The True Life Companies in the Sacramento Valley region, and is the Manager for TTLC Development, LLC, TTLC’s general contracting company.

Having held numerous executive positions with both publicly traded companies and large privately held home builders, Jim has extensive experience in residential development. Among the senior positions he has held, Jim served as General Superintendent/Director of Operations at Citation Homes for 20 years; as Regional Land Development Manager at KB Homes for 1 year; and as Corporate Vice President of Land, Division Manager and President with Syncon Homes for 10 years. In addition to his career with homebuilders, he obtained his General Contractors license in 1989 and built a business focused on the custom home market. Jim holds a California Real Estate license.

Recognized as a leader in the industry, Jim has taken raw land from the purchase stage, all the way to completion, including multiple model complexes with marquee sales and management teams in place. He built a fully operational building division all in under two years. His approach is to focus on gathering a talented team, and building a collaborative environment that brings everyone together to complete projects on time and on budget.

Jim is married and loves to hunt, fish, and golf. He is a true outdoors enthusiast.
