Chief Biomedical Engineer at University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI)

Cady Beharie has gained a diverse range of work experience in various roles. Cady is currently serving as the Chief Biomedical Engineer at University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI), where they apply their engineering and clinical research skills to address clinical problems and enhance healthcare solutions. Cady is also an Adjunct Lecturer and Tutor in Clinical Engineering at The University of the West Indies, Mona. Prior to these positions, Cady worked as a Junior Instrument Engineer at MonaTech Engineering Services Ltd., where they repaired and maintained biomedical, analytical, and industrial instruments. Cady also interned as an Electronics Engineering Intern at the same company, where they analyzed engineering problems and provided support in a fast-paced environment. Cady has also gained experience as a Content Curator at Alder Social LLC, where they developed unique content and coordinated marketing materials. Additionally, they worked as an Engineering Intern at Novamed, where they demonstrated the ability to work independently and collaboratively. Cady began their career as a Receptionist at The UWI Open Campus (SavannaLaMar) as part of The National Youth Service (NYS)- HOPE Youth Summer Work Programme. Through this role, they improved their customer relations and telephone skills.

Cady Beharie completed a Master of Science in Engineering and Management at The University of the West Indies from 2022 to 2024. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from The University of the West Indies, Mona, from 2018 to 2021. Cady also holds a Diploma from The Manning's School from 2016 to 2018, and a School Leaving Certificate from the same school from 2011 to 2016. In addition, they attended a Short Course on Biomaterial and Biofabrication: Design, Engineering, and Innovation at the University of Bayreuth in 2022. Cady has obtained several certifications in medical equipment and emergency care, including Basic Infection Prevention and Control Training, Basic Life Support (BLS), and several specialized training certificates from institutions such as Baxter International Inc. and Helmer Scientific.
