Fernanda Cardoso

Fernanda Cardoso is a Research Fellow at The University of Queensland since March 2011, focusing on uncovering disease mechanisms and developing therapeutics for neurological disorders while actively supporting women in STEM and combating discrimination and harassment. Cardoso serves as Chief Investigator at the National Health and Medical Research Council, specializing in chronic pain, visceral pain, drug development, and medicinal chemistry. Previous roles include Pharmacologist at Vast Bioscience and Chief Investigator at Zealand Pharma, both targeting chronic and visceral pain, along with experience as a Research Officer at Protagonist Therapeutics and Postdoctoral Researcher at QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute. Cardoso’s academic background includes a PhD in Immunology, an MS in Molecular Pharmacology, and a BS in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, all obtained from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais.
