Jay Karlsen

Jay Karlsen is a postgraduate researcher at The University of Sheffield, focusing on blast analysis and explosive yield through sponsorship from Synthetik Applied Technologies. With experience as an academic representative and graduate teaching assistant, Jay has facilitated student support and addressed concerns regarding coursework feedback. Jay has also contributed to the educational community as a student mentor, PASS leader, and volunteer CAD educator. Prior work experience includes engineering placements at Tony Gee and Partners, and participation in the Sheffield Engineering Leadership Academy. Jay's early professional background features tutoring roles at Kumon UK and various engineering work experiences across notable firms. Jay holds a Master of Engineering degree in Civil Engineering from The University of Sheffield.
