Charlene Simmons

Charlene Simmons is an accomplished academic in the field of communication, currently serving as the UC Foundation Associate Professor of Communication at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga since August 2005. Simmons teaches a variety of courses, including Introduction to Mass Communication, Mass Media History, and Publication Design. Prior to this role, experience includes serving as an Instructor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Senior Research Associate at the Center for Media Education, focusing on digital media trends and research related to children and youth. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Mass Communication from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, an MA in Communication, Culture, and Technology from Georgetown University, and dual BA degrees in Communication Studies and History from Virginia Tech.
