Leniece Titani-Smith

Leniece Titani-Smith is a Visiting Associate Professor of Political Science at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga since August 2021 and an Associate Professor of Political Science at Jackson State University since August 2017. Titani-Smith has also served as Interim Department Chair in the Office of the Dean of Liberal Arts at Jackson State University and as a Faculty Fellow, providing resources and support for online course content. Research interests include race and identity theory, Black political attitudes and behavior, and urban politics, informed by a commitment to understanding the African-American political experience and the realities faced by minority communities in the United States. Academic credentials include a PhD and a Master’s degree in Political Science and Government from the University of Chicago, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Government from The University of Washington.
