Farid Khafizov

Farid Khafizov is a distinguished professional with extensive experience in telecommunications and data science. Currently a Distinguished Fellow at Verizon since February 2016, Farid specializes in 5G/4G network operations and natural language processing (NLP). In addition to his role at Verizon, Farid serves as a Senior Lecturer at The University of Texas at Dallas, teaching graduate-level Applied Deep Learning courses since August 2022. As a Principal Data Scientist and consultant since December 2010, Farid has leveraged expertise in classical machine learning, advanced NLP, and big data technologies to assist various high-profile clients, including Verizon, Apple, and the US Air Force. Previous positions include significant roles at Huawei, where Farid was Head of System Design and Optimization, and at Nortel, where multiple leadership positions in wireless R&D were held. Farid holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of North Texas and two Master's degrees in Applied Mathematics and Chemistry from Kazan State University.
