Elliot Herring

Elliot Herring is an AI Research Scientist at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, starting in May 2024. Previously, Elliot served as a Graduate Researcher in the Kavraki Lab at Rice University from August 2020 to October 2023, where responsibilities included managing cluster computing resources, maintaining open-source libraries, and acting as a teaching assistant for graduate courses. Elliot contributed to the development of a low-cost emergency ventilator during a role as Controls Lead & Engineering Consultant for Rice University's Department of Bioengineering, collaborating with engineers and physicians and ensuring the device's effective performance through rigorous testing. Earlier experience includes internships at X, the moonshot factory and Heliolytics, as well as work as an Entrepreneur in the drone industry. Elliot earned a Master of Science in Computer Science and a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering & Computer Science from Rice University, along with a high school diploma focused on Mechatronics Engineering.
