Mathew Axcell, MHA, currently serves as the Director of Management Operations for both the Department of Family and Community Medicine and the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth Houston) since March 2016. In these roles, Mathew functions as the chief business, finance, and administrative officer, overseeing operational, financial, administrative, and philanthropic activities within the departments. Prior to this, Mathew held multiple leadership positions at Harris Health System, contributing to various aspects of provider practice and compliance, as well as serving as an Administrator for the Chief of Staff at LBJ Hospital. Additional experience includes roles at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center and Fort Bend ISD, with a strong background in healthcare administration and operations. Mathew holds a Master's degree in Healthcare Administration from the University of Houston-Clear Lake and a Bachelor's degree in Health from Texas A&M University.
