Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at The University of Texas System

Archie Holmes currently serves as the Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at The University of Texas System and a Professor at The University of Texas at Austin, positions held since October 2020. Previously, Archie Holmes was the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and a Professor at the University of Virginia from January 2007 to October 2020, where responsibilities included academic planning, institutional accreditation, and enrollment management. Prior roles also included Vice Provost for Educational Innovation & Interdisciplinary Studies and Associate Provost at The University of Texas at Austin, along with being a Professor in the same institution. Archie Holmes holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from UC Santa Barbara and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin. Current research focuses on electronic and optoelectronics device design, particularly GaAs- and InP-based avalanche photodiodes.
