JR Ramirez, MSIA, CISSP, currently serves as the Associate Chief Information Security Officer at The University of Texas System since October 2022. Prior to this role, JR held several positions including Senior Manager of IT Security at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, where responsibilities included leading Security Operations and implementing enterprise security solutions. Additionally, JR contributed as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Houston-Downtown, developing a graduate-level information security course, and worked as a Senior Security Engineer at NRG Energy, focusing on PCI DSS compliance. Early career experiences included roles as a Senior Network Security Analyst and Network Analyst at The University of Texas Health Science Center and positions as a Systems Engineer at ScoNet Inc. and Tradestar Investments.
