Lee Smales

Lee Smales is an accomplished academic and financial expert with extensive experience in the fields of accounting and finance. Previously, Lee served as Head of the Accounting & Finance Department and a Professor at The University of Western Australia from July 2018 to August 2022. Prior to this role, Lee was an Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer at Curtin University from February 2013 to July 2018, teaching courses on financial instruments, markets, and statement analysis. Lee's academic journey began as an Associate Lecturer at the University of New South Wales, which included teaching and conducting research on Australian financial futures markets. Additionally, Lee has worked as a Financial Analyst for CSIRO and as a Vice President at Citi, specializing in Short-Term Interest Rate trading. Lee holds a PhD in Banking & Finance and an MBA from the University of New South Wales.
