Suveera Hopton

Suveera Hopton, CPA, CA, currently serves as the Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer at Wawanesa Insurance since September 2022. With extensive experience in compliance and finance, Suveera has held key positions such as Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer at The Commonwell Mutual Insurance Group and Regional Head Compliance Risk Strategy Canada at HSBC. Previous roles include Chief Compliance Officer at Great-West Life, Medavie Blue Cross, and RBC Insurance, where Suveera also served in various capacities including Director of Compliance and Corporate Finance. Suveera is active in industry governance as a Committee Member on the Regulation Standing Committee for the Insurance Bureau of Canada. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Commerce with a specialization in Finance and Economics from the University of Toronto and an ICA International Diploma in Governance, Risk, and Compliance from The University of Manchester.
