David Tait has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Starting in 2006, they interned as a Lobbying Intern at Holland & Knight LLP. In 2010, they interned at the Office of the Prosecutor, Special Court for Sierra Leone, working on the Charles Taylor Prosecution. From 2011 to 2013, they worked as a Trainee Solicitor at Maclay Murray & Spens. In 2012, they served as an Appeals Board member at the General Teaching Council for Scotland. From 2013 to 2014, they worked as an Intern (Solicitor) at Volterra Fietta. David then joined The Commonwealth in 2014 as a Cybercrime Policy Analyst. In 2016, they worked as a Policy Specialist at ICANN and also began their tenure at the Civil Aviation Authority, first as a Principal Emerging Technologies and later as an Innovation Strategy Lead. David became the Head of Innovation at the Civil Aviation Authority in 2019 and held the position until 2022. In 2020, they joined the Nuclear Industry Council, Nuclear Sector Deal Innovation Working Group as a Working Group Member. Currently, they are the Head of Strategic Planning and Technology Foresighting at The Weir Group PLC.

David Tait received their Bachelor of Arts (MA) degree in Politics and Central & East European Studies from the University of Glasgow in 2007. Following that, they pursued a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree at the same university from 2007 to 2009, specializing in Scots Law. David furthered their education by attending Leiden University in 2010 and 2011, where they obtained a Master of Laws (LLM) degree in Public International Law. In 2013, they earned a certification for the course "Introduction to International Arbitration" from the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. Additionally, in 2014, David obtained a certification in Constitutional Law from Coursera.
