Rian Matthews

Rian Matthews currently serves as General Counsel for the APAC region at The Weir Group PLC, supporting the company's operations across Australia and the broader region since May 2018. Prior experience includes serving as Local Principal at Baker McKenzie, where Rian represented clients in civil proceedings and international arbitrations, as well as handling complex regulatory investigations and financial restructurings. A secondment to Standard Chartered Bank's Dispute Resolution Team provided additional experience in managing contentious matters and internal investigations. Earlier roles include Senior Associate at White & Case LLP, Associate at Dundas & Wilson LLP, and Solicitor at Freehills (now Herbert Smith Freehills), all focused on similar legal practices. Rian holds a Master of Laws, a Bachelor of Laws (LLB), and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) from the University of Melbourne.
