Jonathon Fanning is an Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer at The University of Queensland’s Faculty of Medicine, with a focus on supervising research students and delivering educational programs in biomedical sciences and clinical coaching. In addition, Fanning holds positions as a Senior Research Fellow at The George Institute for Global Health and as a Medical Specialist at both St Andrew's War Memorial Hospital and The Wesley Hospital, specializing in intensive care, anaesthesia, and internal medicine. Fanning has extensive experience in clinical research leadership within the Critical Care Research Group and has held roles at Queensland Health. Educational qualifications include a Doctor of Philosophy in Critical Care and multiple fellowships in internal medicine, intensive care medicine, and anaesthesiology. Fanning also completed a Master of Science in Clinical Trials at the University of Oxford and has served as a Visiting Fulbright Scholar at Johns Hopkins Medicine.

The Wesley Hospital, located in Auchenflower, Brisbane, is a not-for-profit private hospital, owned and operated by The Uniting Church of Australia, under Uniting Care Health. With 524 beds, the Wesley is one of the largest private hospitals in Queensland and offers a wide range of clinical services in modern facilities.
