Atahan Kocak

Atahan Kocak has a diverse work experience in the field of data science and analytics. Atahan started their career in 2010 as a Data Analyst at Buck, where they utilized SQL to aggregate, query and analyze data, built and tested cost prediction models, and managed long-term data projects leading to product design. Atahan then transitioned into the role of Consulting Actuary, developing automated models, implementing A/B tests to quantify differences in retirement rates, and creating SQL queries to handle large datasets.

In 2017, Atahan worked as a Consultant at AK Consulting, where they performed data cleansing, mining, analysis, and predictions for three clients. Atahan presented the results to audiences with various technical backgrounds.

From 2018 to 2019, Atahan served as a Senior Analytics Engineer at Comodo, where they modeled and normalized a relational database with a large volume of observations. Atahan also wrote SQL procedures to filter leads and engineered sales process and CRM dashboards to deliver actionable insights.

In 2019, Atahan joined Metis as a Data Scientist, where they prepared and presented several data science projects. These projects included performing analysis and data visualization on MTA metro stations traffic, building a predictive model for estimating soccer player salaries, and constructing a predictive classification model for optimizing interference timing of UN forces in international disputes.

Atahan then joined MedOptions in 2020 as a Data Scientist, where they worked on interesting and smart solution projects in healthcare data. Atahan performed data wrangling, cleansing, analysis, and feature engineering at various levels of healthcare data.

Currently, Atahan is working at TheGuarantors as a Senior Engineer in Data. Their role involves various responsibilities such as end-to-end machine learning engineering, data engineering, automated data enhancement, code and process refactoring, modular programming, and mechanical problem solving. Atahan collaborates with other teams such as Risk, Underwriting, Marketing, Strategy, and Sales to fulfill data-related subjects and business needs.

Throughout their career, Atahan has utilized various technologies and tools such as DataBricks, MLFlow, Feature Store, AWS, Snowflake, DBT, Stitch, VSC, GitBash, Airtable, and Airbyte. Atahan is proficient in Python, SQL, and JS programming languages.

Atahan Kocak has a diverse education history. Atahan attended Tarsus American College where they pursued a high school degree with a focus on math and computer science. After completing high school, they enrolled at Montclair State University and obtained a bachelor's degree in Finance & Management Information Systems. Later, Atahan pursued further education at Montclair State University and completed a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) program. In 2019, they attended Metis and obtained an Advanced Specialized Education in Data Science / Analytics. In addition to their formal education, Atahan has obtained several certifications, including a Metis Data Science Certificate of Completion, Intro to Data Science certificate from Metis, and PYTHON FOR DATA SCIENCE: FUNDAMENTALS from Dataquest.io. Atahan has also obtained various certifications from the Society of Actuaries, including Financial Economics, VEE Corporate Finance, VEE Economics, VEE Applied Statistics, Financial Mathematics, and Probability.
