Manuel Zapata

Manuel Zapata has worked in a variety of roles in the software engineering industry since 2005. From 2005 to 2008, they were a Monitor in Desarrollo Web at Universidad Icesi, where they developed web applications with Java and Oracle, and also performed system analysis and software design. Manuel also worked as an Auxiliar de Investigación and a Docente Hora Cátedra at Universidad Icesi during this time. In 2008, they started their own company, In-Mobile, where they served as Gerente de Proyectos. From 2009 to 2010, they worked as a Professional Analyst at Banco de Occidente, where they developed software in .NET Framework, Oracle databases, and PeopleSoft. From 2010 to 2012, they were a Software Architect at ElectionMall Technologies, Inc., where they implemented processes and technologies for the software factory, and was the software architect and development leader for the company's main product. From 2012 to 2018, they worked as a Software Architect at Modularis, Inc., where they trained software development teams about .NET, Java, and agile methodologies. Since 2018, they have been working at ManuelZapata.co, where they offer consulting, training, and content creation in software architecture, best development practices, and soft skills. Since 2019, they have been a Senior Engineering Manager and Software Architect at Makrwatch.

Manuel Zapata attended Universidad ICESI from 2003 to 2008, where they obtained a degree in Ingeniero de Sistemas in the field of Administración e informática and a degree in Ingeniero Telemático. Manuel has also obtained several certifications from various institutions, including a Certified Scrum Master from Scrum Alliance in August 2014, a Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer: Web Applications from Microsoft in July 2014, a Microsoft Certified Professional from Microsoft in June 2014, and a Microsoft Specialist (Programming in HTML5 with JavaScript and CSS3) from Microsoft in June 2013.
