Heath O'Brien

Heath O'Brien is an accomplished bioinformatician with extensive experience in the field, currently serving as a Senior Bioinformatician at Sano Genetics since March 2022. Prior to this role, Heath worked as a Bioinformatician at Theolytics and Living DNA, and as a Research Associate at Cardiff University, focusing on the genetic risk variants for schizophrenia and neurodevelopmental disorders. Heath's academic background includes a Ph.D. in Ecology, Evolution, Systematics, and Population Biology from Duke University and a Bachelor's degree in Botany/Plant Biology from the University of Alberta. Additionally, Heath has contributed to research at the University of Toronto as a Postdoctoral Researcher and has experience in functional genomics related to biological photonic crystals from plants.
