Robert Townsend

Robert Townsend has over 10 years of work experience in mechanical engineering. Robert is currently working as a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Thermacell Repellents, Inc. since May 2021. Prior to this, they worked at Allegion from 2014 to 2021, where they held the position of a Senior Mechanical Engineer. During their time at Allegion, they designed portable security products for various brands and led design activities for new products. Robert also worked with Product Management to determine key specifications and designed components for various manufacturing methods.

Before Allegion, Robert worked at Draper Laboratory as a Direct Carbon Fuel Cell Engineer. Here, they were the main contributor to the Hybrid Direct Carbon Fuel Cell project, responsible for all engineering aspects. Robert designed and modified parts using SolidWorks and Pro/Engineer to create functional test fixtures.

Robert also gained experience as a Mechanical Engineering Co-op at QinetiQ North America, where they troubleshooted problems using Pro/Engineer, determined failure patterns for robot treads, and authored test plans. Additionally, they worked as a Machine Shop Work Study at Northeastern University and as a Mechanical Engineering Co-op at Draper Laboratory and Waters, where they designed various products and prototypes using CAD software.

Robert Townsend attended Northeastern University from 2008 to 2013, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Mechanical Engineering. In June 2011, they also earned a certification as a Certified Associate from SolidWorks.
