Prakash Malla has a diverse work experience spanning over three decades. Prakash began their career as a Graduate Research Assistant at Rutgers University in 1983, where they also served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for a brief period. In 1986, they worked as a Visiting Research Assistant at Laboratoire des Sols, INRA, Versailles, France.

In 1987, Prakash joined Penn State University as a Research Associate at the Materials Research Lab, where they contributed until 1992. Following this, they joined Thiele Kaolin Company and held several positions within the Research and Development department. Prakash started as a Research Materials Scientist & Group Leader in 1992 and was later promoted to Senior Research Materials Scientist & Group Leader in 1996. Prakash then became the Manager of the Paper Research & Applications Laboratory in 1998 and subsequently served as the Manager of Research & Development from 2004 to 2015. Prakash's final role at Thiele Kaolin Company was as the Director of Research and Development (R&D), a position they held until their departure.
