Working in a fast paced environment and reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this position has accountability for the initiation, planning, delivery and closure phases of a portfolio of projects that deliver customised solutions of the ThinkAnalytics product suite to a range of customers. The accountability covers the management of one or more projects of a complex nature across all aspects of the full software lifecycle. 

Responsibilities

  • Adopting full responsibility for the delivery of customised solutions of the ThinkAnalytics product suite to our customers.

  • Meeting project scope, time and cost objectives by assiduous and early definition of scope inclusions and exclusions, ongoing scheduling, and cost tracking.

  • Ensuring that the project deliverables (software and documentation) adhere to industry best- practice and ThinkAnalytics’ quality standards.

  • Managing the project cost against budget using techniques appropriate to the scale of the project (e.g., Earned Value analysis) and ensuring that all work is covered by the project commercial agreement.

  • Engaging in regular, effective communications with ThinkAnalytics’ Management Team, customer stakeholders, and internal team members regarding the status of projects, thereby facilitating successful project delivery.

  • Working with the ThinkAnalytics’ Resource Manager to identify project resource plans. Carry out day to day task allocation for a number of project team members across various geographical locations.

  • Identifying, prioritising, managing, communicating and mitigating the project risks and issues.

  • Managing changes to the project scope or timescales by the implementation of strict change management.

  • Managing the successful transition of the project from the development phase into support by close liaison with the ThinkAnalytics’ Support Manager and ensuring that the support handover pre-requisites are achieved.

  • Maintaining an awareness of potential interdependencies with other projects and their impact.

  • Conducting end-of-project evaluations in order to assess the project performance and capture lessons learned.

  • Liaising with ThinkAnalytics’ Finance regarding project commercial matters (e.g., completion of payment milestones, any change to payment milestone dates, receipt of Purchase Orders, invoice status).

  • Taking responsibility for identifying and cultivating project follow-on work by developing strong customer relationships (including the preparation and delivery of estimates and quotes).

  • Participating in the development and maintenance of Project Management policies, procedures and methodologies as well as performance management metrics, thereby establishing and implementing continuous process improvement.

  • Leading the project team(s) and ensuring that the relevant people policies and practices are followed and adhered to in order to optimise performance; e.g. Attendance Management and participation in Performance Development Reviews.

  • Acting as a mentor to less experienced Project Managers, if needed.

Skills

  • Broad experience in an influential project/portfolio management (software) and multifunctional team leadership role; managing teams working with Agile and Waterfall methodologies.

  • Strong planning skills with the ability to appreciate business goals and direction.

  • Hands-on experience of project scheduling using appropriate tools (e.g., MS Project)

  • Sound knowledge of budgeting, cost tracking and resource allocation procedures.

  • Experience of nurturing development teams to improve their technical competency.

  • Experience of successfully designing and implementing business change initiatives.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; comfortable in the boardroom and leading/participating in detailed technical conversations.

  • Experience of successfully designing and implementing business change initiatives.

  • Possess an understanding of the content recommendations, real-time data-mining and predictive analytics market space.

Qualifications/Certifications

  • Computing/Software Development Degree or equivalent relevant experience.

  • Project Management Certification; PRINCE 2, PMP or equivalent.
