Katarina (Miller) Bouma

Director of Engineering (Perception and Manipulation) at Third Wave Automation

Katarina (Miller) Bouma has a wealth of work experience. Katarina started their career in 2008 as an Intern at GE Transportation. In 2009, they worked as a SURF-IT Researcher at UC Santa Cruz, where they used C++ to implement the Epidemic routing protocol for Delay Tolerant Networks on mobile communications nodes. In 2012, they joined Verizon Wireless as a Data Analyst and Product Development and Integration specialist. During their time there, they created statistical models using R to make recommendations regarding optimal time of day to target users and response rates of different user groups. Katarina also wrote the specification for feature phone browser requirements for devices that incorporated HTML5 support. In 2016, they joined the Toyota Research Institute as a Deep Learning Software Engineer. Finally, in 2018, they joined Third Wave Automation, where they held the roles of Director of Engineering (Perception and Manipulation) and Staff Machine Learning Software Engineer.

Katarina (Miller) Bouma earned their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering in 2010. Katarina then went on to pursue their Master of Science (M.S.) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Stanford University, which they completed in 2016.
