Yushu Zhou

Yushu Zhou has a diverse work experience in the field of data science and financial analysis. Their most recent position was at Thirdwave as a Senior Data Scientist starting in January 2023. Prior to that, Yushu worked at Coinbase as a Senior Data Scientist from August 2022 to January 2023, and as a Data Scientist from October 2020 to August 2022.

Before joining Coinbase, Yushu was employed at IBM as an Advisory Data Scientist and later as a Data Scientist in their Machine Learning and Data Science Elite Team. At IBM, they were involved in various projects such as Media Buy Clearance Prediction, Continuous Monitoring of Productionized models, Auto Parts Demand Forecasting, and Investment Manager Grading. Yushu received positive feedback from clients and contributed to significant software deal growth during their tenure at IBM.

Yushu also gained relevant experience as a Data Science and Web Scraping Intern at Social, where they built automated web scrapers. Additionally, they worked as an Algorithm Engineer Summer Intern at Alibaba Group, contributing to the development of a Wholesale Goods Detector on the B2C Marketplace Platform.

Prior to their internships, Yushu worked as a Research Assistant at the Investment & Finance Banking department of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and participated in the Wealth Management Young Talent Program at a company called 花旗 (Huā-Qǐ) in 2015. They also served as a Financial Analyst at AXA, where they conducted data analysis for stock price and return rate prediction.

Yushu Zhou completed a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree in Resources Recycling Science & Engineering at Nankai University from 2012 to 2016. Yushu then pursued a Bachelor of Management degree in Business Administration at Tianjin University from 2014 to 2016. Following that, they attended Columbia University from 2016 to 2017, where they obtained a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Quantitative Methods in Social Sciences with a focus on Data Science.

In terms of additional certifications, Yushu Zhou received several from IBM and Coursera. In October 2019, they became an IBM Mentor. Yushu also earned a Data Scientist Project Badge - Level 1 from IBM in April 2019 and was recognized as an IBM Recognized Speaker in Data Science in January 2019. In June 2018, they completed the "Improving Deep Neural Networks: Hyperparameter tuning, Regularization and Optimization" course and the "Structuring Machine Learning Projects" course on Coursera. In April 2018, they obtained a certificate for the "Neural Network and Deep Learning" course on Coursera. Additionally, Yushu Zhou completed the "Machine Learning" course on Coursera in February 2017.
