Emma Mendel currently serves as a Visiting Assistant Professor in Architecture and the Built Environment at Thomas Jefferson University since August 2024. Previously, Emma held the position of Ian McHarg Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania Stuart Weitzman School of Design from August 2023 to August 2024. Emma's teaching experience includes a role as a Lecturer in Landscape Architecture at The University of Virginia School of Architecture from January 2018 to 2021. Emma also worked as a Landscape Designer at Nelson Byrd Woltz Landscape Architects and Janet Rosenberg & Studio between 2016 and 2018, and completed a Landscape Designer internship at HOK in 2015. Early career experience includes positions as a Research Assistant at the University of Hong Kong and a Research Internship at China Water Risk. Emma holds a Masters of Design in Urbanism, Landscape and Ecology from Harvard University Graduate School of Design (2019-2022) and a Masters of Landscape Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design and the University of Toronto.
