Sonya Lawrence Bsn

Sonya Lawrence has a diverse and extensive work experience that spans over several industries, including healthcare, law, and education. Sonya began their career as a Cardiomyopathy Nurse Coordinator at Temple University Hospital from 1991 to 1996. Following this, they worked as a Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Clifford Scott Green at the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania from 1998 to 2000. Sonya then transitioned into the legal field, starting as a Trial Attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice from September 2000 to August 2002. Sonya subsequently served as an Assistant United States Attorney from 2002 to 2008, where they managed civil litigation teams and negotiated settlements for the federal government. During their time at the U.S. Department of Justice, they also worked as an Attorney Instructor, teaching paralegals and legal assistants the fundamentals of civil actions and trial practice. From 2008 to the present, Sonya has been working at Thomas Jefferson University, first as Counsel for Compliance and Risk and Conflicts of Interest Officer, and later as the Senior Vice President, Enterprise Chief Compliance Officer, and Special Investigations Counsel. Their responsibilities in these roles include overseeing compliance efforts, managing investigations, and providing legal counsel.

Sonya Lawrence holds a Juris Doctor (JD) degree in Health/Health Care Administration/Management and Trial Advocacy from Temple University - James E. Beasley School of Law. Sonya also has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Temple University. Additionally, they are currently pursuing a Doctor of Education (EdD) degree in Organizational Leadership from Wilmington University, with an expected completion date in 2023. Sonya Lawrence is certified in Health Care Compliance (CHC) and is a licensed attorney in Pennsylvania, as of 1998.
