Emre Caglar

Emre Caglar has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning various roles and companies. Emre began their career as a Software Developer at Türkiye İş Bankası in 2004, followed by a Software Developer position at Aselsan in 2005. In 2006, they worked as a Software Developer at Microsoft.

In 2008, Caglar joined the University of Ottawa as a Teaching Assistant, before transitioning to a role as a Software Engineer at AppHelp by AppDirect in 2009. Emre then moved on to Aecon Group Inc. in 2010, where they worked as a Software Engineer until 2013, followed by roles as a SAP Business Intelligence Architect and Team Lead from 2013 to 2015, and as the Manager of Enterprise Architecture and Business Intelligence from 2015 to 2016.

Caglar then joined Toyota Canada Inc. in 2016 as a SAP Solutions Architect, specializing in Cloud, Integrations, and S/4HANA, until 2019. Most recently, they have worked at Thomson Reuters, starting as the Director of Technology from 2019 to 2020, and currently serving as the Vice President of Product Engineering.

Emre Caglar pursued a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from Koç University from 2002 to 2007. Following that, they went on to obtain a Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Ottawa, studying from 2007 to 2009.

In 2010, they acquired the Oracle Certified SQL Expert certification from Oracle. Additionally, they obtained the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) v3 certification from EXIN in the same year. Emre also completed certifications from IBM in various BI-related fields, including IBM Cognos 8/10 BI Data Warehouse Developer in 2010, IBM Cognos 8/10 OLAP Developer in 2010, IBM Cognos 8/10 BI Metadata Developer in 2012, and IBM Cognos 8/10 BI Author in 2013.

Emre achieved the Certified Business Intelligence Professional (CBIP) - Data Analysis and Design - Mastery Level certification from TDWI - ICCP in 2013. In the same year, Emre completed Leadership Essentials certification from the University of Toronto and the TOGAF v9 Foundation certification from The Open Group.

Furthermore, they obtained the SAP HANA Certified Application Associate (Edition 2016) certification from SAP in 2016, followed by the SAP Certified Development Associate - SAP HANA 2.0 SPS03 certification in 2018.

In 2019, Emre earned the Amazon Web Services Technical Professional certification from Amazon Web Services (AWS). Emre further expanded their expertise in AWS by acquiring the AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate certification in 2022 from the same institution.

Most recently, between 2023 and 2025, Emre completed the Artificial Intelligence Professional Program from Stanford University.
