James Birchall is an experienced structural engineer with a strong background in both forensic engineering and consulting design. Currently serving as an Associate in Forensics at Thornton Tomasetti since October 2024, James provides forensic structural engineering services focused on Cause and Origin investigations. Prior to this role, James spent nearly nine years at AKT II as an Associate, where contributions included key design work on significant projects such as One Nine Elms and the Museum of London. Additionally, James gained early experience as a Site Engineer with Interserve on the East Leeds Academy project. James holds two Master of Engineering degrees in Civil and Structural Engineering from The University of Sheffield and the University of Wollongong.
