Roar Gjøvaag

Roar Gjøvaag has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Roar started their career as a Production Worker/Meat Cutter at Gilde, gaining experience in safety procedures and physical demands. Roar then served as a Platoon Assistant and Corporal in the National Guard, where they received training in military skills and acted in stressful situations.

Following this, Roar worked as a Cook and Production Assistant at Torgkafeen Byåsen AS, demonstrating their culinary skills. Roar then joined Nortura as a Restructuring Representative, taking on responsibilities such as organizing courses, assisting with job applications, and managing the job center during the factory's potential closing.

Roar then moved into the software and technology industry, working at SINTEF as a Software Developer and later joining EVRY as a Consultant and Senior Consultant. In these roles, they gained experience in UX design, frontend development, prototyping, project management, and product management.

Later, Roar founded and served as CEO of Lucidum Studio, an independent game development studio. Their responsibilities included game design, producing, project management, entrepreneurship, and working with Unity.

Roar then returned to Tietoevry, where they held various leadership roles. Roar served as the Head of Section for their custom software consulting in Trondheim, leading designers, architects, and developers. Roar also worked as the Competency Excellence Lead, focusing on competency strategy and development within the company. Lastly, they held the role of Head of Design, where they drove the creation of user-centric software products, established design strategies, and advocated for user experience within the organization.

Roar Gjøvaag obtained a Bachelor's degree in Informatics from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) from 2012 to 2015. Prior to that, they had a Higher Vocational Education degree in Food Technology and Processing from Trondheim Fagskole, which they completed from 2006 to 2008. Roar also completed vocational courses in Food Processing at Ladejarlen VGS. from 2000 to 2002, and a Vocational Course in Mechanics and Repairers, General at Brundalen VGS in 1998 and 1999. In terms of additional certifications, Roar Gjøvaag has obtained various certifications in areas such as Agile User Experience Design and Research, GPT-4, executive presence, AI engineering, UX research, workshop facilitation, and others from LinkedIn and other institutions, mostly achieved in 2022 and 2023. Roar also holds certifications in Scrum product ownership, programming in HTML5 with JavaScript and CSS3, interaction design specialty, TypeScript, UX, design thinking, visual studio, gamification, and entrepreneurship, obtained from various institutions including Scrum Alliance, Microsoft, Nielsen Norman Group, edX, Pluralsight, and Coursera, mostly achieved from 2014 to 2019.
