Leopoldo Staiano

Leopoldo Staiano is an Assistant Researcher at Tigem since May 2012, focusing on kidney organoids to model genetic kidney diseases, kidney development and function, cell biology of diabetic kidney disease, lysosome biogenesis and function, autophagy, intracellular trafficking, and phosphoinositides. Prior experience includes a postdoctoral researcher position under the supervision of Dr. Maria Antonietta De Matteis, where the focus was on the molecular mechanisms of autophagic dysfunction in LOWE Syndrome patients. Additionally, Leopoldo Staiano has served as a researcher at the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche since July 2020, and was a PhD student at Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn from January 2009 to April 2012, as well as a visiting PhD student at the Institute of Functional Genomics in 2011.
