Dan Santangelo

As the Director of Clinical Services, Dan oversees Timberline Knolls’ clinical program and services. He supervises, trains, and guides clinicians that provide individual, group, and family therapy at TK.

Dan prioritizes effective communication between departments to help create a synergistic treatment team approach when caring for their residents. By interfacing with Lodge Directors and their clinical staff, he is kept continuously aware of the residents’ progress, daily operations within their living environments, and overall lodge dynamics. Dan routinely interacts with Case Management to address the residents’ overall treatment and aftercare plans. At times, he attends care conferences and community meetings to obtain first-hand knowledge of the residents’ treatment experiences.

Prior to Timberline Knolls, Dan provided individual, group, couples, and family therapy to a diverse population ranging from age 5 to 65 years of age. He has worked in several different environments including Psychiatric Inpatient Care, Residential Care, Long-term Nursing Home Care, Department of Child and Family Services contracts, and Outpatient Therapy. Dan has treated several mental health conditions including: mood and personality disorders, psychosis, autism spectrum disorders, eating disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, child & adolescent behavioral disorders, attachment disorders, self-injurious behavior, suicidal ideations/gestures/intentions, crisis counseling, grief therapy, family discord, couples counseling, existential crisis and others.

Dan received a Master’s Degree of Science in Clinical/Counseling Psychology from Illinois State University and his Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and Cultural Anthropology from Loyola University Chicago.
