Nikhil Sontakke

Nikhil Sontakke has worked in the tech industry since 2001. Nikhil started their career at Veritas Software India Ltd. as a Senior Software Engineer, working on the Veritas Volume Manager Product (VxVM). In 2005, they moved to Symantec as a Senior Software Engineer, where they worked on the distributed SANVM protocol. In 2006, they joined EnterpriseDB as a Technical Architect and Lead Engineer, and contributed to features like bulk data loading, efficient bulk handling of procedural language in-memory collections, distributed memory caching, etc. In the same year, they also joined the PostgreSQL and Postgres-XL Global Development Group as a Contributor. In 2010, they co-founded Yuva Web Services Pvt. Ltd. and served as the Director of Technology. In 2011, they became a Founding Member and Senior Architect at StormDB, which was acquired by TransLattice, Inc. in 2013. At TransLattice, Inc., they were involved in code development and features addition. In 2015, they co-founded SecureDB Inc., where they served as the VP of Engineering. In 2016, they joined 2ndQuadrant as a PostgreSQL Consultant. Nikhil is currently working at Timescale as the Core PostgreSQL Database Tech Lead, where they are working on the distributed multi-node Timescale offering, delivering multinode operational capabilities for TimescaleDB optimized for Timescale Cloud.

Nikhil Sontakke holds a Master of Technology degree in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, and a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Science from the Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology.
