Gus Newman has a diverse work experience in the field of project management and civil engineering. Gus currently holds the position of Project Manager at Timmons Group since June 2021. Prior to that, from 2018 to 2021, Gus worked at GordonDC where they served as an Associate and Project Manager. In this role, they were responsible for leading the design and project management of various projects ranging from small-scale site improvements to large-scale developments. Gus also played a key role in designing civil plans, coordinating with clients and external teams, researching local regulations, and managing project budgets. Notable projects they worked on include Apple - Carnegie Library, National Gallery of Art - Sculpture Garden Infrastructure Upgrades, and USACE Training Support Facility.
Before joining GordonDC, Gus worked at GORDON (formerly WHGA) from 2013 to 2018. Gus started as a Staff Engineer and progressed to the role of Senior Staff Engineer and eventually became a Project Engineer. During this time, Gus led the production of land development site plans, coordinated civil designs with other disciplines, and managed plan submissions to local regulatory agencies.
Gus began their career in 2011 as an Intern at Byers Engineering.
Gus Newman attended Virginia Tech from 2009 to 2013, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Civil Engineering. Additionally, they have certifications as a Professional Engineer (PE) from the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation, the Maryland Department of Labor, and the Department of Consumer & Regulatory Affairs (DCRA), although the dates of obtaining these certifications are not specified.
