Liz Bender

Liz Bender has a strong background in leadership and finance within the nonprofit sector. From March 2019 to present, they have served as the Chief Operating Officer at Tipping Point Community, overseeing multiple departments and leading strategic planning. Prior to this, from October 2015 to January 2019, Liz was the Chief Finance and Growth Officer at First Place for Youth, where they managed the organization's finances and spearheaded its national expansion. Liz also served as Chief of Staff and Director of Strategic Initiatives at First Place for Youth from October 2013 to October 2015, contributing to its operational improvements and growth. Before that, from April 2010 to August 2012, Liz worked as a Senior Portfolio Associate at The Edna McConnell Clark Foundation, managing relationships with grantees and identifying investment opportunities. Liz began their career as a Development Associate at NewYork Weill Cornell Medical Center from October 2006 to September 2007, working on fundraising strategies and donor engagement. Overall, Liz Bender has demonstrated expertise in finance, operations, and strategic leadership throughout their career.

Liz Bender pursued their education at Boston College from 2000 to 2004, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Finance. Following that, they attended Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis from 2004 to 2006. During this period, they earned a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Philanthropic Studies and a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree specializing in Non-Profit Management. These educational experiences prepared Liz for a diverse range of knowledge and skills in finance, philanthropic studies, and non-profit management.
