Chinmay Morankar, EIT

Chinmay Morankar, EIT, has a diverse range of work experience in the engineering field. Chinmay most recently worked at TMEIC as the Chief System Design Engineer - Energy Storage, starting in September 2022. Prior to that, they were a Senior Solar Engineer at EDP Renewables from September 2021 to September 2022.

Chinmay also has experience at WSP, where they held multiple roles. Chinmay started as a Senior Engineer - Renewable Energy in January 2021 and worked on various projects including the preliminary design of a 500MW/2000 MWh standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Montana. Chinmay also conducted ROI and payback period analyses for PV Solar + BESS projects. As an Engineer II - Renewable Energy at WSP, they gained expertise in SCADA systems, wind energy, and BESS system design.

Prior to WSP, Chinmay worked at A. O. Smith Corporation as a Systems Engineer from September 2016 to November 2018, focusing on instant electric heating projects. Chinmay received recognition for their contributions to improving factors affecting the Uniform Energy Factor.

During their time at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Chinmay served as a Systems Engineering Intern for the Energy System Integration Facility (ESIF). Chinmay worked on projects involving Thermal Hardware in the Loop (THIL) testing, simulations, and energy-saving control for hot water tanks.

Chinmay's earlier work experience includes an internship at Renewable Energy Systems Americas Inc., where they modeled utility-scale solar PV power plants and integrated them with energy storage systems. Chinmay also worked as a Mechanical Engineering Intern at the University of Colorado Boulder, gaining experience in renewable energy system analysis and economic modeling.

In addition to their engineering work, Chinmay had roles as a Student Assistant at the University of Colorado Boulder's Center for Advanced Engineering and Technology (CAETE) and as a Soccer Official, demonstrating their versatility and ability to work in diverse settings.

Chinmay Morankar, EIT has a Master of Science (MS) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder, which they obtained from 2014 to 2016. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Mechanical Engineering from Savitribai Phule Pune University, graduating from 2010 to 2014.

In addition to their academic qualifications, Chinmay has obtained several certifications. Chinmay earned a certification in ENERGY STORAGE AND PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEMS from NFPA in February 2023. Chinmay also completed a certification in Channel Wire Communication from National Instruments in June 2017. Furthermore, they received certifications in Internet of Things : Roadmap to a connected world and LabVIEW Core 1 and 2 Course Completion from MIT Professional Education and National Instruments respectively in November 2016. Chinmay obtained their Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification from NCEES (National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying) in February 2016. Prior to that, they acquired certifications in Entrepreneurship Development from the Department of Science and Technology, India in January 2014, and in C Programming from SEED Infotech Ltd. in March 2012.
