Monica Causey is an experienced mental health professional currently serving as the State Liaison for the Mental Health Transformation Alliance since October 2015, where responsibilities include sharing information on activities and outcomes related to the SAMSHA Statewide Family Support Network grant, particularly with underserved populations in rural areas. Additionally, since September 2015, Monica has been a CHAP Parenting Counselor at Catholic Charities, conducting Nurturing Parenting sessions for families in the Clarksville-Montgomery County region. Monica holds a long-term position as Lead Family Contact at Tennessee Voices for Children, focusing on recruitment, support, training, and ensuring family involvement in systems of care. Prior experience includes the role of Lead Family Counselor at The Family Center and coordination of a statewide family support network. Monica possesses multiple degrees in Social Work from the University of Tennessee and Austin Peay State University, solidifying a foundation in management and community practice.
TN Voices
Tennessee Voices for Children provides leadership, advocacy, and hope to advance the emotional and behavioral well-being of children, young adults, and families. Tennessee Voices for Children, Inc. (TVC) was formally organized in 1990 by Tipper Gore as a statewide coalition of individuals, agencies and organizations working together as a Steering Council to promote children’s health and education services. TVC has progressed to become a statewide and national source of referral, support, and advocacy for families and the systems that serve them. Through the Statewide Family Network and its other ten main programs, our organization has informed, supported, and assisted parents and providers across the state. In the past fiscal year, TVC has reached more than 150,000 parents/caregivers, family members, and professionals (providers, educators, other advocates, etc.). We have taken the lead in promoting the use of a coordinated system of care in Tennessee that includes family support and community engagement as key components. TVC works collaboratively with parents, professionals, state and federal officials, policy makers and other key stakeholders to ensure that services provided to children and families in Tennessee are family driven, community based, and culturally and linguistically competent.
