Karen Oude Hengel

Karen Oude Hengel is an accomplished Research Scientist specializing in Work, Health, and Technology at TNO since 2008. In addition to this role, Karen serves as a board member of Body@Work Research Centre, an initiative focusing on research related to labor and health, as well as sports, lifestyle, and health. Previous research experience includes a position as a Researcher in Labor and Health at Erasmus MC from 2017 to 2021 and as a PhD student at VU University Medical Center from 2008 to 2013, where the thesis focused on the sustainable employability of construction workers. Karen also gained international experience as a Visitor Scientist at Harvard University in 2007. Educational qualifications include a cum laude Master of Science in Human Movement Sciences from VU Amsterdam and a Bachelor of Engineering in Industrial Design from Haagse Hogeschool.
