Kim Oliver

VP, Strategy, Policy, Advocacy, & Community Coalitions at TNTP

As the Vice President of Strategy, Policy, Advocacy and Community Coalitions, Kim Oliver oversees the Community Coalitions and Policy teams in TNTP’s Strategy, Policy, and External Affairs division. She works alongside communities, external organizations, and other stakeholders to drive policy and practice change at the local, state, and national levels for educational success and improved social and economic mobility for all students.

Kim has 25 years of professional experience in both private and public sectors working for large corporations, non-profit businesses, and municipal government. She collaborated with system and local leaders, led the start-up of cross-sector collaboratives, and informed and set policies for education and workforce development. Prior to joining TNTP, Kim served as the Director of the Department of Families, Children, Youth, and Recreation for the City of Hartford (Connecticut) where she set the vision and strategy for the department, with a goal to help children and youth succeed and grow into thriving adults by promoting and providing high-quality programs in early childhood education, youth development, workforce development, and recreation. She also served as Director of Youth Services for Capital Workforce Partners for north central Connecticut, partnering with government, employers, service providers, philanthropy, and other stakeholders to provide young people with learning opportunities in work-based competencies, occupational skills, and work experiences.

Since 2017, Kim has served as Second Vice Chair for the Hartford Public Schools Board of Education. She also serves as the Secretary-Treasurer of the Capital Region Education Council, a legislative-appointed member of Connecticut’s Commission for Women, Children, Seniors, Equity, and Opportunity, and a legislative-appointed member of Connecticut’s Early Childhood Cabinet. Kim holds a BA in Economics from Yale University and an MBA in Marketing and E-commerce from Rensselaer Institute.
