Rei Harada is a seasoned professional in cultural heritage management, currently serving as a Research Fellow, Project Assistant Professor, and Project Researcher at Tokyo University of the Arts since October 2016. As a founding member and grant writer for the Grand Egyptian Museum Joint Conservation Project, Rei contributed to the conservation of 81 artifacts with a budget of 8 million dollars over three years. Previously, from July 2014 to March 2016, Rei worked as an Expert at the Japan International Cooperation Agency, organizing conservation training courses for over 1,000 conservators. Earlier experience includes a role as a Research Fellow at the National Research Institute for Cultural Properties in Tokyo, where Rei collaborated with a 400-member international group dedicated to protecting cultural heritage globally. Educational qualifications include a Master’s degree in Historic Preservation from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations/Cultural Studies from Tsuda College.
