Rachael Schmditlein is an experienced library professional with a strong background in collection development and youth services. Currently serving as a Collection Development Professional at Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library since November 2018, Rachael is responsible for the selection and evaluation of materials for children and young adults. Prior to this role, Rachael was a Small Business Owner at Fanciful Pursuits and held positions at Manhattan Public Library, including Children’s and Young Adult Collection Development Librarian and Tween and Teen Services Coordinator. Rachael’s earlier experience includes working as a Youth Services Assistant at Lawrence Public Library and an Administrative Assistant at Dr. Robert R. Lohse Jr. DDS, PA. Rachael holds a Master’s Degree in Children and Youth Library Services from Emporia State University and a Bachelor's Degree in English Language and Literature from Washburn University.
