Michael Stott

Michael Stott has a diverse work experience starting from 2007. Michael began their career as a Web Designer at Umlungu Consulting and later joined First National Bank - South Africa as a Web Designer/Frontend Developer. At First National Bank, they also worked as a Frontend Development - Lead Developer, where they mentored and trained junior and mid-weight developers.

In 2014, Michael worked as a Javascript Developer at BBD, where they maintained and added new features to the Momentum Wealth App. Michael was also involved in the quarterly statements redesign project.

From 2014 to 2021, Michael worked at mikestott as a Frontend Developer on freelance development projects for various companies, including First National Bank, Nedbank, BMW, Nissan, Coronation, and smaller brands. Michael used Angular, React, Vue, and JQuery to complete these tasks.

In 2019, Michael joined Razberi Technologies as a Javascript Developer, where they played a key role in migrating an Angular 1.x app to Angular and then added new features and built reusable components.

Michael joined Discovery Inc in 2020 as a Software Development Engineer II. Michael was part of an Agile team that successfully rebranded Dplay to Discovery+ and relaunched the platform to over 1 million users. Michael significantly improved performance by refactoring components and rebuilding the product purchasing flow.

In 2022, Michael worked at Warner Bros. Discovery as a Software Development Engineer II. Michael then moved to Shopify as a Senior Software Engineer in the same year. Currently, Michael is a Senior Software Engineer at topi since 2023.

Michael Stott obtained a Diploma in Multimedia Design from the Design Center, where they studied from 1999 to 2001. In addition to their formal education, they also obtained certifications in "Introduction to Ruby on Rails" and "Learn Ruby from Scratch" from Educative, Inc. in October 2022.
